Why Choose Us

Why Choose Evergreen Design Group | National Landscape Architecture Firm

Why Architects, Civil Engineers, and Developers Choose Evergreen Design Group

When you’re managing a complex development project — whether it’s a multi-family community, a mixed-use development, or a large commercial site — you need a landscape architecture partner who delivers. Not one who makes you chase them down.

Since 2005, Evergreen Design Group has provided professional landscape architecture, land planning, and irrigation design services to architects, civil engineers, land developers, and design-build contractors across the country. We are licensed in more than 40 states, making us one of the most broadly registered landscape architecture firms in the United States. State licensing boards set and enforce the education, experience, and examination requirements that candidates must meet to earn a license. Licensure ensures that practitioners have the knowledge and judgment to practice competently and ethically, and strong licensure laws help prevent harm, support resilient and sustainable communities, and uphold the credibility of the profession.

As a national landscape architecture firm, we are experienced in creating community spaces that enhance well-being and resiliency. Our team is familiar with the unique needs of diverse towns and municipalities, and we excel at navigating local codes and regulations to deliver compliant, permit-ready designs.

Here’s what sets us apart:

7 Reasons Professional Teams Choose Evergreen Design Group

1) 20+ Years of Proven Experience in Commercial Landscape Architecture

Founded in 2005, Evergreen Design Group has spent over two decades delivering landscape architectural services on projects of every scale — from straightforward permit-level planting plans to complex site designs involving hardscape, grading coordination, community amenities, and full irrigation design systems. Our experience spans all U.S. climate regions, site conditions, and regulatory environments.

Our experience as a national landscape architecture firm includes creating high-performance landscapes that celebrate beauty, placemaking, and enhance community spaces. We use creative collaboration to foster community-building and deliver meaningful design solutions. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our emphasis on native ecosystems and resiliency to benefit communities.

This means you get a firm that has seen your problem before and knows how to solve it efficiently.

2) Responsive — Because Your Schedule Doesn't Wait

We treat your deadlines like our own. Throughout the life of your project, our landscape architects respond promptly to questions, RFIs, plan revisions, and agency comment letters. We understand that delays in landscape architecture deliverables can cascade across an entire project schedule, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Whether you're a civil engineer needing a quick turnaround on a planting plan or a developer under entitlement pressure, you'll always have a direct line to someone who knows your project.

3) No Corporate Bureaucracy — Flat Structure, Faster Decisions

Evergreen Design Group operates with a lean, agile management structure. There are no layers of bureaucracy between you and the people doing the work. You're not passed from account manager to project manager to designer and back again.

This structure means faster communication, faster revisions, and a partner who is always focused on your project — not on internal approval chains.

4) National Coverage, Local Knowledge — Licensed in ~40 States

One of the most common challenges for architects and developers working across state lines is finding a qualified, licensed landscape architect in each jurisdiction. Evergreen Design Group eliminates that problem.

We are currently licensed to practice landscape architecture in: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.— with the ability to obtain additional state registrations as needed.

To become a licensed landscape architect, candidates must complete an accredited bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture, gain supervised professional experience under a licensed landscape architect, and pass the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.), which tests the knowledge and skills needed to practice safely and effectively. After meeting these requirements, candidates must apply for licensure through their state licensing board. Transferring a landscape architecture license from one state to another typically involves using CLARB certification, and some states require supplemental exams for licensure. Most states also require licensed landscape architects to complete continuing education and pay annual dues to maintain their license. Licensed landscape architects play a critical role in designing, planning, and managing outdoor spaces that protect the public's health, safety, and welfare.

If you manage a national development program or work across multiple regions, Evergreen Design Group is the single-source landscape architecture partner you’ve been looking for.

5) Competitive Fees Through a Low-Overhead Business Model

Our firm is structured intentionally to keep overhead costs low — and we pass those savings directly to you through competitive design fees. You get experienced, licensed landscape architects and high-quality deliverables without paying for the overhead of a large corporate firm.

For developers, contractors, and project teams managing tight pro formas, this matters.

6) Market-Focused — We Know Your Industry

Landscape architecture doesn't happen in a vacuum. We stay current with zoning trends, land development regulations, sustainability requirements, and construction cost realities in markets across the country. We understand the specific pressures faced by residential developers, commercial property developers, civil engineering firms, architects, and design-build contractors.

This cross-market knowledge allows us to make design decisions that are not just code-compliant and aesthetically appropriate — but also constructable and budget-conscious.

7) Cost-Conscious Design From Concept Through Construction

We don't just design to code and call it done. Our landscape architects actively evaluate designs from a commercial landscape contractor's perspective, looking for opportunities to reduce construction costs, simplify installation sequencing, and minimize long-term maintenance expenses.

This approach protects your client's budget and builds trust with the contractors who bid and build your projects.

Our Design Approach

At Evergreen Design Group, our design approach is rooted in the belief that landscape architecture should do more than beautify land—it should create opportunities for people to connect, thrive, and enjoy life. We are dedicated to planning and designing outdoor spaces that are not only visually striking, but also functional, sustainable, and safe for the communities they serve.

Our experienced landscape architects work closely with clients to understand the unique goals and challenges of each project. By developing tailored strategies that balance the needs of people with the demands of the environment, we ensure every design supports both public safety and ecological health. We prioritize access to green spaces, parks, and plazas, recognizing their essential role in enhancing community life and well-being.

Through the integration of urban design principles and landscape architecture, we create vibrant, people-focused spaces that foster a sense of belonging and connection to the natural world. Our collaborative, iterative process is grounded in a deep understanding of how buildings, land, and public spaces interact—and how thoughtful planning can transform the way people experience their environment.

At every stage, we are committed to delivering services that exceed expectations, helping our clients imagine and realize outdoor spaces that enrich lives and support the long-term success of their projects.
